Frequently Asked Questions
What are your office hours?
Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm
I am interested in applying to your faculty. Whom should I call for an interview and where can I send my CV?
Please contact our recruitment coordinator, Susan Kamen.
What is included in the Faculty Benefits package?
Please check out the human resources website for more information.
What is involved with the credentialing process and how long does it take?
The credentialing process is two-pronged. You will need clinical privileges at the University of Maryland Medical Center as well as a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The process involves a significant amount of paperwork and usually takes about 120 days. Kristen Farrell, our credentialing coordinator will work closely with you on this process. Please note: your CV will need to be in the School of Medicine format for the faculty appointment process.
Where can I find the School of Medicine CV format?
You can find that information here.
What is the closest airport?
The closest airport is Baltimore-Washington International which is about ½ drive from our campus. There are also shuttles available from the airport to area hotels.
Is there anyone who can show me some neighborhoods in Baltimore or surrounding counties?
We have worked in the past with these two realtors who would be happy to show you around Baltimore: Penny Noval, Coldwell Banker, 410-527-1600 or Laura Nicholson, Long and Foster, 410-453-0500
Is Baltimore a safe city in which to work?
Baltimore City is a very diverse, vibrant city with much to offer. The neighborhoods are also very economically diverse and unfortunately some of those neighborhoods have high levels of robberies and violent crime. The University of Maryland Baltimore Police maintains a high profile and this has resulted in few incidents of crime on the University campus. Shuttle services and escorts are also available to University of Maryland employees. Whenever you relocate, you should research the crime and safety statistics for your new neighborhood. Some Baltimore safety statistics can be found at: http://baltimore.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm Crime statistics for the University of Maryland Baltimore campus are available weekly at 410-706-2677.
