  A Little About Me
|
|
After being born and raised in Maryland, I left for an extended walk-about that spanned 30-some states, Canada, and a bit of Mexico. After that bit of travel, I moved to Maine to go to College of the Atlantic. This was free-form, self-directed education at its finest and was intermittently disrupted by 3-month winter climbing trips to the desert southwest. After graduating in 1996, I worked as a climbing guide for some time in Maine then as a paramedic in Maryland and DC. Cheesy as it sounds, I met my wife in an MCAT class in Maryland. In 2000, we moved to Richmond, Virginia, to attend the Medical College of Virginia. Now we are both residents at the University of Maryland. My interests include wilderness medicine, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, scuba diving, and firefighting/auto extrication.
