• Guide fluid resuscitation by urine output with goal of 0.5-1 ml/kg/hr. • Debride blisters > 6 mm to avoid pressure necrosis and blisters over joints. • For debridement, you will need: analgesia, soap and sterile water/normal saline, forceps and scissors. • Lots of burn dressings exist, but in the ED you can use bacitracin or Silvadene or xeroform. • Consult with burn center for: circumferential and/or, full thickness burns, > 10% TBSA, inhalation injuries, electrical or chemical burns, burns of the face/hands/feet/genitalia/major joints. • Discharge instructions should tell patients to return for development of significant blistering, if the skin becomes non-blanching, or if they notice color or texture change.
