• It is important to know if you are speaking to a BLS or ALS unit so that you know what capabilities a unit has. • As physicians we provide online medical direction regarding care, medications, etc.; this is a crucial component of the EMS system. • There are many areas of out of hospital medicine where physicians can get involved including wilderness medicine, disaster and rescue medicine, event/mass gathering event, flight medicine. • When interacting with our EMS providers remember they are working in a MOVING resource-limited environment, are working within protocols, and have useful information for you.
