Human Trafficking - Human Trafficking Clinical Presentation and Community Response Model:
Shock trauma Auditorium
• Maryland is a hotspot of human trafficking as it is centrally located along major traffic corridors and close to major airports and law enforcement is overstretched. • These individuals are closely guarded and it may be difficult to get the patient alone in the hospital setting. Don’t let their visitor go to x-ray or go to the bathroom with the patient. • They will interact with healthcare providers and the studies show that we will miss this. • Victims of human trafficking as often intentionally made addicted to drugs to keep them dependent on their pimps. • bMOREsafe app: offers information/resources for victims of human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
