• Alkali ingestions are more dangerous than acid ingestions and cause liquefactive necrosis which can cause esophageal strictures later. They require emergent endoscopy. • Atrial fibrillation and acute abdominal pain in an older person should raise concern for mesenteric ischemia. • Packers vs. Stuffers. Packers meticulously pack drugs for transport. Stuffers haphazardly ingest drugs to avoid detection by law enforcement. Hence stuffers are more likely to suffer consequences of acute ingestion.
