• Epiphyseal growth plate is the weakest part of the bone in children leading to Salter-Harris Fractures. • Bones lengthen quickly before muscles and tendons catch up. • Salter-Harris II fractures of the femur have a high complication rate. • Greenstick fracture: only one side of bone fractured, usually in bone shaft. • Avulsion fractures of hips seen in skeletally immature as the ligament pulls on the bone. • SCFE exam: limited internal rotation. Get bilateral hip films as it often becomes bilateral.
