Procedures - Central line tips and tricks
STA
• Stop wasting your time pre-flushing your central line. • Preload the dilator on the wire before you make the incision. • When doing femoral lines abduct the hip as this makes the vein bigger. • In IJ lines keep the head position as neutral as possible, do not turn their head all the way to the side. • For subclavian lines have the patient turn their head toward the side you are placing the line as it makes the vein larger and occludes the ipsilateral IJ.
