Academic Activities and Responsibilities

I'm originally from a small town in Northern California - Chico - where I was born and raised. I went South to the University of San Diego for college where I got my degree in Psychology. I took a year off between college and med school and worked as a Phlebotomist and IV tech in the local hospital in Chico. I started med school at Tulane in New Orleans in 2004 only to have to move to Houston for the second year in 2005 due to Katrina. Moving back to a post-Katrina New Orleans and starting my clinical years was quite different than I had expected it to be, but it also helped me to realize that Emergency Medicine is what I want to do... University of Maryland is the perfect place to be a resident in Emergency Medicine...

I currently split my clinical time between Shock Trauma and Emergency Medicine. I spend a great deal of time in the Cardiac Surgery ICU, the Lung Rescue Unit and the trauma teams while on my critical care blocks.
