A Little About Me

About me:
I was born and raised in Maryland and, as a result, I love blue crabs and Charm City. I'm married to a non- doctor (because one resident schedule is enough to work around) and we live in the suburbs. I have a toddler at home who loves blowing bubbles and going to the playground. I will be working at Carroll Hospital next year, doing an administrative fellowship.

Why I chose UMEM:
As a medical student at the University of Maryland, I had the opportunity to get acquainted with the faculty and residents of the University of Maryland Emergency Medicine program early in my training. I still remember attending a talk given by Dr. Mattu during my first year of medical school and leaving the lecture feeling inspired. Dr. Mattu highlighted many of the reasons why emergency medicine is such an exciting specialty and I couldn't help but notice how perfectly his descriptions of the field overlapped with my goals for my career as a physician. Throughout the following years of medical school, I became very involved with the Emergency Department at the University of Maryland and when it came time to make my rank list to decide where I would go for my residency training, I had no question about which program to rank first. This program's top teaching faculty, ample research opportunities, high acuity patients and motivated residents made it extremely appealing to me, but most importantly, I just felt like I fit.
