A Little About Me

Greetings and thanks for taking a look at the University of Maryland. I am confident you will be very glad you did!

I started out medical school with a healthy bias towards emergency medicine. However, once rotations began I quickly realized pediatrics would also need to be a significant part of my medical practice. Trying to combine these two passions has led me to Maryland where I am delighted to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. Maryland easily checked every box of what I was looking for in a residency program: great clinical training; faculty and residents who want to teach (and are ridiculously good at it); strong and supportive departments; research opportunities; international opportunities... the list goes on. But what was most important on my list, and something the folks here at Maryland have in abundance, is awesome human beings.

As for me, I came into medicine slightly out of left field, leaving a career as a professional dancer to pursue medicine. Along the way I've also been an ED tech, a waiter, a bartender, a house painter, a paper boy and a polo groom. Aside from medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife, infrequent modern dance classes, rock climbing, scuba diving and trail jogging (definitely NOT trail "running").

If you have any questions about EM or EM/Peds, Baltimore, or whatever, please feel free to drop me a line!

Cheers!

Research Interests

Generally: Pediatric EM, international, and wilderness medicine... and finding some way to put them all together.
