A Little About Me

I grew up mainly in Long Beach, CA. I went to undergraduate in Orange County at UCI. I've known since I was 15 I wanted to be a pediatrician. It wasn'tÿuntil medical school that I figured out that I was also interested in emergency medicine. During my second year of med school I was very happy to discover that there were programs that included both. Since there are three ways to go into pediatric/emergency medicine I took most of third year and even some of fourth year trying to figure out which would best avenue for me. I felt like the combined program was the best way for me to train. I still do not know exactly what I want to do after residency, but I'm interested in undeserved populations, international medicine and hope to find a way to practice both adult and pediatric emergency medicine.

I rotated at Maryland in both the adult emergency room (early in the year) and the pediatric emergency room (late in the year). ÿEveryone was so eager to teach, faculty and residents alike. There was a lot of current research being used to back up their care of patients. Both departments were very welcoming. What really made me feel like Maryland would be a good fit for me was the residents. Everyone was hard working, ready to learn and not too serious.

I can do my best to answer questions about the program. ÿI also couple matched and I'm happy to answer questions about that or the interview process in general.
