Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Hello! Thank you for considering the University of Maryland as you embark on the residency application process.
I loved Maryland immediately and I could list a million reasons, but I will refrain and just mention a few. First off, Maryland was incredibly desirable because of the focus it places on academics, and in particular, teaching. Some of the greatest minds in EM will be working alongside you daily and lecturing you on a weekly basis during conference. There is no substitute for learning from such well-respected and approachable individuals. This emphasis on teaching ultimately produces senior residents who not only excel clinically but are also fantastic teachers themselves. Another wonderful aspect of our program: the people. Spending time working (and playing!) alongside such fun and down-to-earth residents has been the icing on the cake. If you're looking for a residency program where you will be challenged every day, receive training from the TOP leaders in our field, and will also feel accepted and supported...this program definitely fits the bill!

Also....crab cakes. And football (if you're into that). That's what Maryland does:)

PLEASE feel free to email me if you have any questions about the program or just life in general. Good luck and try to enjoy the process!!
