Fun in Baltimore

Having fun in Baltimore on your off-time is easy!
The hardest part is choosing what to do.

As busy as residency can be, we make time to have fun.  Feel the wind in your hair while sailing along the Inner Harbor in our Annual Fall Sailing Regatta.  Prime your pinchers at the Crab Feast Kick-Off.  Unwind with some friendly competition at duckpin bowling or LaserTag after the in-service exam.  Socialize with your fellow residents and staff at our impromptu get-togethers.  Indulge yourself at the department's elegant holiday party at one of the best seafood restaurants in the city.  Catch a fly ball at the Orientation Baltimore Orioles game.  Gear up with 5000 other runners for the Baltimore Marathon or the scenic Cherry Blossom 10-mile Race held in Washington, DC.  Float on an inner tube or go white water rafting down the Shenandoah River in nearby Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Outdoor activities

The four seasons make for a wonderful variety of outdoor activities available in our area. There is plenty of it right in the heart of the city.  Of course, there is also the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, but Maryland is also home to the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Hiking, biking, outdoor running, and all sorts of outdoor activities are available year-round. There are many wonderful state parks across Maryland, as well as Great Falls and Shenandoah National Parks just a short drive away!

Museums

Baltimore features museums of all sorts- from fine art to quirky art, and historical to modern.  We are also home to a fantastic zoo and the National Aquarium!  Read about museums and attractions here.

Music & Entertainment

Watch a Broadway-caliber show at the Hippodrome Theatre (adjacent to the UMMC campus), a fantastic play at Everyman Theatre.  Catch your favorite artist at Pier 6, the Royal Farms Arena, or the many other music venues across the city, and when you're in the mood for classical music, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Peabody Institute are sure to please.  Here's more info on where to see live music in Baltimore!
