Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Thanks for taking interest in our program. I would be happy to talk with you anytime. We have a great mix of residents from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. I fall into the ?outdoorsy family guy? category. I?ve hiked across America and Switzerland, worked in an outdoor store, and cycled Northern Canada. I love the outdoors and do dorky things like listen to bird call tapes during my drive to work.
I also have a wife and two small boys. When I?m not working, I?m either renovating my house or having fun with my kids. We go to one of the three nature centers near our house or to the parks or playgrounds. We belong to a farm co-op and contribute time for our share of the crop; the kids love the horses at the farm. Baltimore has a plethora of private schools, and there are plenty of great schools in the suburbs.
Regarding resident life, we work hard, but we have time for life and, importantly, we get amazing training. We have incredible attendings and a dedicated residency director. The breadth of experience and opportunities are strong points of the program. The faculty is dedicated to helping us develop whatever interests we may have. Life can be a bit crazy in the ED, but we also have a lot fun. We see a lot of patients, we see a lot of pathology, and we see a lot of each other. I feel close to everyone in the program and know that I can rely on them for whatever I may need.
Good luck to you wherever you land! Let us know how we can help.
