Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Hi - Thanks for your interest in the UMD EM Residency Program (aka. the best one around)! I'm originally from Baltimore (born and raised), went to Colgate University for undergrad and moved to NYC after that. I worked in Finance for 3 years, realized that I was incredibly bored by making other people money, and decided to pursue my other interest, medicine. I completed the Columbia post-bach premed program while working in sports medicine research at Hospital for Special Surgery for 2 years, and then came back to Baltimore for med school. While it was hard to leave the hustle and bustle of NYC, my experience at UMD has been phenomenal. The people, especially in the ED, create such a fun and relaxed learning environment. It's amazing to work with some of the best in their field, especially the famed Dr. Mattu. I'm honored to have matched at Maryland...my first choice!

On a personal note, I'm married with two little munchkins (3yo daughter and 1yo son) and an extra large chocolate lab (125 lbs of love!). I played DI lacrosse at Colgate and still like to play pretty much any sport. I like to run, water ski, wakeboard, snow ski, play tennis, etc. and I've taught spinning for 7 years. I even managed to squeeze two NYC marathons in there. I love being active and trying new things, which is also why I love working in the ED.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the program, living in Baltimore, or whatever comes to your mind. I look forward to meeting some of you this fall/winter!
