Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Hey all, Welcome to the UMEM website!

For prospective residents: Let me start out by saying, Baltimore has been my home for the past 10 years, so please email me with any questions/concerns you have about the "Charm City", "City that Reads", "Greatest City in America", etc. I grew up in a small suburb of Philadelphia, came to Baltimore for undergrad and have been here ever since.

I love all things related to food including going out to the the many foodie gems in Baltimore and trying new recipes in the kitchen (gotta try my Italian-Indian fusion). I also love hiking, DIY projects, outdoor concerts, lawn games, wandering around the harbor, board games, and karaoke.

Staying at University of Maryland for EM training was kind of a no-brainer for me because the UMEM residents and faculty I met during medical school were the reasons I chose EM as a career. There's a great sense of camaraderie and genuine interest in learning/teaching that surrounds you here. The clinical opportunities are amazing and the patients are unique and diverse. Above all else, I wanted a training program that is dedicated to education. University of Maryland's program is led by some of the best teachers, and it produces leaders in many different niches of EM.
