I originally went to undergrad with the pursuit to be either an architect or engineer. Then I took calculus 3 and decided I needed to play to my strengths; science but not math.
I worked for 3 years for a biomedical research company where I was an associate in the research and development division. My main duties were to develop research products specifically for biomedical applications in the fields of immunology and cancer research. After spending those few years, I realized that I craved more personal interactions with people; hence, medical school.
I stayed in Alabama for medical school and graduated from UAB in 2013. I was fortunate enough to receive a HPSP scholarship through the USAF and a deferment from military residency, which resulted in my match at the best emergency medicine residency program in the country.
