So I actually grew up all my life in Baltimore (except for college where I proved I could live away from my family) and decided to stay in the area for residency. I love kids and I love the emergency room, so the Peds/EM program was the natural choice. I have the typical story of wanting to be a doctor since I was seven, but it wasn't until I joined the fire department in college where I fell in love with the lights and sirens and was first introduced to emergency medicine. And, I still do love playing with the lights and sirens and even during a busy residency, still found time to volunteer in the fire department.
I now split my time between emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine and EMS. It is a great combination of all worlds. I have been able to continue teaching and am now running the Peds/EM program. I continue to be involved with EMS at both the local, regional and state level.
