Marcozzi Named MD ACEP Physician of the Year

David E. Marcozzi, MD, MHS-CL, MHS-CL, FACEP, Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, was named Physician of the Year by the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians on March 18, 2021. The award is given to an emergency physician “who consistently achieves high standards in the practice of emergency medicine” and is seen as a role model to their peers in that field of practice.

Gregory Jasani, MD, Resident, Department of Emergency Medicine, was named Resident of the Year by the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians on March 18, 2021. 3K Registered for 2021 Emergency Cardiology Symposium

The Department of Emergency Medicine held its 6th annual Emergency Cardiology Symposium on March 24, 2021, with nearly 3,000 people from 86 countries registering to attend. Amal Mattu, MD, Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, directed the symposium and Leen Alblaihed, MBBS, MHA, Adjunct Instructor, Department of Emergency Medicine, lectured on “COVID-Related Dysrhythmias.”


David E. Marcozzi, MD, MHS-CL, MHS-CL, FACEP, Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, was appointed to the senior leadership team as Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) for the University of Maryland Medical Center on March 15, 2021. Nicole Baehr, MHA, PMP, previously Population Health Project Supervisor, Department of Emergency Medicine, will join him as Manager of Operations within the CCO office.
